So what exactly is G-Sync?

G-Sync is described by Nvidia as a revolutionary display technology that provides the ‘smoothest and fastest gaming experience ever’. This is achieved by the technology being able to synchronize display refresh rates to match the GPU, thus eliminating screen tearing and ‘minimizing display stutter and input lag’. The result of this visually is that ‘scenes appear instantly, objects look sharper, and gameplay is super smooth’ – creating a incomparable visual experience as well as a ‘serious competitive edge’.

TL;DR – G-SYNC technology eliminates screen tearing, minimizes stutter, minimizes lag, and games become silky smooth.

G-Sync vs FreeSync Laptops: Which is better?

In short, Freesync technology prevents the screen tearing effect that occurs when refresh rate and frame rate fall out of sync, and eliminates stutter, creating a buttery-smooth gameplay experience similar to G-Sync. So what’s the big difference between G-Sync vs Freesync? Well for starters Freesync technology is made by AMD while G-Sync is made by Nvidia. This means G-Sync will NOT work with AMD graphics cards and Freesync will NOT work with Nvidia graphics cards. If you have a Nvidia GPU you can still use the monitors if it has Freesync. You just won’t be able to take advantage of Freesync unless you have an AMD GPU. Compared to G-Sync monitors, displays supporting AMD’s FreeSync technology are generally much cheaper. To sum it all up: Freesync displays are cheaper but you won’t be able to use the technology with any Nvidia Cards like the GTX 1060, 1070, 1080, etc.

Best G-SYNC Laptop: ASUS ROG Strix GL702VS

Asus ROG Strix GL702VS G-SYNC Laptop

Our favourite G-Sync laptop of 2017 without question is the Asus ROG Strix GL702VS. The majority of the laptops above have a typical screen refresh rate of 60Hz, but this laptop has a screen refresh rate of 120Hz! With a frame rate this high you will definitely notice G-Sync technology working its magic. The laptop itself has a 17.3” FHD screen and the display can clearly be seen up to 178 degrees, thanks to its wide view panel so there’s hardly any color shift even when you’re viewing it from extreme positions. The GL702 weighs only 6lbs with a width of 0.94”, making it one of the most thinnest gaming laptops with G-Sync and a GTX 1070 graphics card. Also the metallic design is nice touch. The CPU is an i7-7700HQ at 2.8 GHz. Overall if you travel a lot and want the same features as a high end gaming desktop in a portable laptop, then this laptop will suit your needs.
